I Can't Accept Not Trying: Michael Jordan on the Pursuit of Excellence
Published in Hardcover by Harper SanFrancisco (September, 1994)
Authors: Michael Jordan, Sandro Miller, and Mark Vancil
Average review score:

Elevating
This is quite possibly the single most inspiring work ever written by man, outside of the holy word of God. This book is about competition, and how even the best sometimes really have to work to succeed. Michael Jordan is the best basketball player to ever step onto the court, and even after everything he has been awarded, everything people have said about him, he is still underrated. This book is not so much about basketball, though his examples come from that walk of life. It is about picking yourself up, and making something of yourself, and just as the title explains, never quitting.

Read it, try it, the book worth it
As all the books of "search the personal excellence" you have to try it to see if it's true, of course not everybody could try this and other books of this kind because all the people are different.
The advantage of this book among the others of the same theme is that you can read this book in 20 minutes or less, is easy to read because it doesn't have examples on how could you solve this or that problem, and it has a strong message in every chapter, if you just try to do one or two of these messages you can be sure that your life could change.

Makes me think i can fly!!!!!!!
This is the most inspirational book i have ever read....MJ rockz!!!!!

Learning, Practicing and Living the New Careering: A Twenty-First Century Approach
Published in Paperback by Taylor & Francis (01 June, 1999)
Authors: Anna Miller-Tiedeman and Miller
Average review score:

Learn, Practice and Live, Indeed!
This book by Miller-Tiedeman is a fascinating 'read' from both the academic and everyman perspective. The broad range of attributions from many different disciplines is both impressive and generous spirited while the down-to-earth examples are pr actical, focused and grounding.

Jungians could read this book for its empowering and containing principles (pages 61-80) of living life-as-career. Miller-Tiedeman's principles bring Jung's theoretical constructs into everyday, concrete and therefore, workable guidelines.

Teachers and students could read this book for its clarity of layout, suggestions for deepening the teachings as well as broadening the awareness.

Last, but far from least, Oprah Winfrey and her legions could read this as a primer for embracing the spirit. Thank you, Anna Miller-Tiedeman.

Reaching the Soul, Stretching the Mind
Dr. Miller-Tiedeman's book, Learning, Practicing, and Living the New Careering, has the ability to reach the soul while stretching the reader's mind. She has brought spirit into the career field through her grounding of the New Careering in the philosophy of Quantum physics, the late David Bohm's notion of wholeness, Buckminster Fuller's right and left proposition, and Self Organizing Systems Theory--all of which support the continual evolvement of life in its fullness. To bring ideas from this strong literature into an everyday philosophy as well as a researchable theory, in a field bogged down by careers and jobs, is nothing short of genius. Does it get any better than this? I don't think so. This is a 5 star book if there ever was one.

Finally, A Book That Acknowledged My Life Process
When I read Learning, Practicing, and Living the New Careering, I could not put it down. It swept me off into a real and familiar world. Miller-Tiedeman's writing of this book is as gentle, believable and genuine as her theory. It is a book that takes hold of readers and carries them through a new exploration of themselves and the world around them because Lifecareering® is the stuff of our lives

Dr. Anna Miller-Tiedeman's book, Learning, Practicing, and Living the New Careering, is a career theory that finally offers a clear and concise theory that one can live as well as use. Other theories, break the career and client into parts making it more difficult to sense the wholeness of life. On the other hand, Lifecareer® is understandable and applicable because it deals with the person as a whole as he or she cooperates with the approaching forces in his or her life. That's why considering life, not job, as the big career makes so much sense. Life is something we can relate to, understand, and realize its profound affect on our job choice. But the focus on life and each individual approach to it is the essential part in this theory.

Dr. Miller-Tiedeman does not write this book to impress or to stagnate us with the past. Instead she shares a view of the future of career counseling freeing us from old career paradigms. Lifecareer® gives us the satisfaction of a cherished life with jobs as only a segment of that. We're invited to ingest the New Careering principles and philosophy at our own personal speed and this attention to our own rhythms does enhance our lives. I highly recommend this book for anyone searching for a fresh personal approach to career as well as a better future for career counseling.

Passion and Purpose: How to Identify and Leverage the Powerful Patterns That Shape Your Work/Life

Find Where You Belong
This is a very positive book that draws on an individual's successful and enjoyable experiences from childhood on to help the individual understand what kind of work will be satisfying. Reading this book was uplifting for me. I felt great relief to finally understand why I am so unhappy in my seemingly great job as an engineer. I am now planning a new career direction that will saisfy my intrinsic motivations as revealed by the exercises in the book.

Douglas K. Cudworth, M.S., UND Graduate Student
This book is an excellent guide to selecting the appropriate
career pathway that applies only to the individual concerned about his or her future endeavors in life. The work provides real life examples to illustrate how people have correctly adjusted their careers utilizing the principles put forth by
Hansons and Associates. This career reference is very readable
and may well create a lifetime of fulfillment for a great many persons.

Brilliant Guide to Achieving Fulfillment
This very clear and well-written book provides a very clear explanation of how to employ the enormously powerful SIMA technique. As a manager responsible for employee development in a large information systems organization, I made powerful use of the SIMA methodology. Through its use, we were able to fill positions based not only on "skill match," but perhaps more importantly, on "motivation match." It was a win/win for both the employees and the company: Employees gained insight into where their passions lay and were assigned to areas where their energies could be tapped, and the company got big productivity gains from their truly motivated employees.

Tempera Mysticism

Tempera Mental
My prayer of thanks goes up for this incredable explanation of why those "experts" who talk all about how the Horoscopes can be real know nothing about the real facts of the TRUTH about Jesus and God, as Miss Miller explains based on Biblical Facts! How can they talk about the "stars" like their Gods??? This is the book I have prayed for years! I cant wait for her new book, "A Sign in The Heavens, The Truth About Astrology"

Revelations!
I was ecstatic to receive the word from Ms. Miller about how the satanic-astrological conspiracy is based not on the true biblical facts. It had sickened me to read other so-called "theologians" disparage our God with their star-loving rants. Goodness knows we don't need any more unfactual stories going around, and I for one have already cleared a space on my devotional shelf for Ms. Miller's new book, "A Sign in The Heavens,The Truth About Astrology".

The Straight Dope on the Birth of Our Lord
This brilliant book by Ms. Miller is filled with enlightening new information regarding the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, and exposes how godless pagans have co-opted this beautiful story of salvation with their morally questionable "Astrology." Miller has sounded the clarion call to all true Christians who want the whole story on the stars and religion, and I will definately pick up her latest volume, "A Sign in The Heavens, The Truth About Astrology."

Terrorism Factbook: Our Nation at War!
Published in Paperback by White Wolf Publishing Inc. (October, 2001)
Authors: Marc Miller and Jason File
Average review score:

Excellent Insight -a GREAT breifing of MANY Topics
This book is great, should be required reading for every US household.

This is obviously written by people with great knowledge about a difficult set of subjects. What sets this book apart from others is that the authors present the material in a fashion that everyone can digest and therefore come to understand the very complex issues surrounding global terrorism.

The book fully addressed and shed light on almost 40 topics regarding the war on terrorism. It gave me a greater understand of WHY the U.S. is a target, HOW al Qaeda operates, WHO bin Laden is, HOW the US and its allies can and are responding.

Ever wonder about the history of the Arab/Israeli conflicts?, the history of the conflicts in Northern Ireland?, what makes al Qaeda different from other terrorist groups? ...its all in here, and then some.

The book lists more more than 40 terrorist groups operating trhoughout the world, what their "cause" is, and the their bases of operation. It identiifes terrorist orgranizations on each continent, and by country. It gives some detail and information about states that sponsor terrorism, and the complex politics involved in each case.

Overall, the book is a "must read." It really gave me a clearer understanding of the global politics in play when it comes to the issue of terrorism.

Great detail and facts about:
What IS terrorism -its defined in many ways, this book clarifies why different countries and even different parts of the US gov. define it differently.

The al Qaeda organization and its global reach,

Terrorist operations in: Africa, Middle East, Europe, Latin AMerica, Asia, etc.

Terrorism and International Law

and it even presents a balanced viewpoint on the hot issue of Civil Liberties.

Overall- I give it 5 stars, and that's because I couldn't give it 6.

To the authors -GREAT job!

FANTASTIC!
This book is exactly what I was looking for. It is well-written, clear, comprehensive, interesting, and very insightful. I learned more from this one book than from two months worth of newspapers, magazines and TV news programs. I give it my highest recommendation, and encourage every American to buy it!

Clear, concise and expert--read this now!
This book is an excellent study of the all too timely
issue of international terrorism. Unlike much of the coverage
of the tragic events of September 11th, and of
other terrorist atrocities in the past, it provides a scholarly, but highly accessible, account of the wider context of these events, including the history of terrorism and the search for a working definition of the term.
It also provides a concise history of the major terrorist organisations, and also clearly lays out the range of possible responses in the international community to the threat
of terrorism. This book packs a great deal into a relatively
small, and very readable, format--take the time to read it and you will not only be better informed, but also provoked to think more deeply about this crucial contemporary issue.

Keeps You On The Edge!
This book will keep you on the edge of your chair! Two psychotic killers are in battle to see who is the most psychotic! Who will win the battle? Will both survive? And just WHAT are they using as their weapon???

You won't put this one down until all those questions are answered! Very well written!!! Way To Go Tim!!!

Epstein LaRue, Author of "Crazy Thoughts Of Passion," and "Love At First Type." Chief publising agent for Epstein Publishing.

Highly Recommend!
Talented author, Tim Miller, provides another fascinating read with his newest thriller OUT OF NOWHERE. He pits two hired killers against an unscrupulous business tycoon-all directed by an anonymous voice on the phone. Detectives Jim Stanton and Shelly McGuire are thrown together to solve the case. OUT OF NOWHERE kept me turning pages to try and figure out who is the mysterious voice on the phone. Two times I thought I had it solved, then the story twisted again, totally confounding me. I raced through to the final twist, enjoying every minute of the action on the pages.

I highly recommend OUT OF NOWHERE to readers who like fast paced thrillers with a sprinkle of humor. The chemistry between detectives Jim Stanton and Shelly McGuire has me hoping that Mr. Miller is working on a sequel!

Out of Nowhere
Out of Nowhere is one of those books you wish you could stop reading--but you can't. You HAVE to finish it. you have to find out who is pulling the strings behind all the bad things happening to the richest man in town, Reginald Spencer. The man who owns the plant that supports the town and has been laying off LOTS of workers.
You HAVE to follow the work of Jim Stanton, newly widowed, and his new partner, Shelly McGuire, as they put the pieces together. You MUST know if the killers are smarter and more determined that the detectives following them.

Out of Nowhere is not a "cozy" read. If you like sunshine and sweetness in your mysteries--well, you won't find much of that in this book. The killers are brutal, the descriptions can be graphic. I found it hard to decide which of the two killers was the most frightening--loose cannon Cooper(who LOVES blood-and inflicting pain)or cold-so very cold- Cutter(who kills because it's his job and he does it without emotion).

Mr. Miller displays his knowledge of the police scene effectively. The politics of police work show up in Stanton's dealings with his superiors and with the mayor and Reginald Spencer. Stanton tries to do his job in spite of interference from higher ups.

A real highlight of the novel is the byplay between Jim and Shelly as they move from antagonism to teamwork to a hint of something more personal. Shelly McGuire is a wonderful character! Her wit, intelligence and courage add a great deal to the story. Her no-holds-barred approach to life fills the book with enery and a great deal of excitement. She is definitely an asset to Jim Stanton's work on the case.

Reginald Spencer is being blackmailed by a person unknown. He has been ordered to call back all of the workers he laid off in an attempt to save his failing business. When he doesn't move fast enough to sulit the disembodied voice on the phone--people die in horrible ways. First, but not last, is his only son who is a victim of the two hired killers--in spite of professional security protection.

Spencer is reluctant to lose his fortune and people pay for his reluctance. He tries to run and tries to hide but he's being watched. Will he pay the final price? Stanton and McGuire struggle against the unknown mastermind as well as the deadly killers.

Out of Nowhere is full of twists, turns and surprises. There is a great deal of depth to the story. The characters are real--even the evil ones. Miller brings Cutter to life(if that word can be used for someone so cold and deadly). We see part of the story from Cutter's point of view. We see how and why he works. We delve into the madness of Cooper's bloodlust. We see the struggle of good against evil in the battle of wills between Cutter and Stanton. And we're not sure which will win.

I found my emotions and my intellect involved in this book. I liked Stanton and Shelly(actually, I loved Shelly!) I felt revulsion and fear for the behavior of Cooper and Cutter. And I really disliked Reginald Spencer for being the creep he was. I hope to see Jim and Shelly again.(hint, hint, Mr. Miller)

The Story of My Father (Random House Large Print)
Published in Hardcover by Random House Large Print (11 March, 2003)
Author: Sue Miller

I am Not the only one...
It was nice to read of Sue's experience, as I am now going down a simalar path with my mother. There were many things she said that are happening in my case and it was indeed good to know I was not alone. I have similar thoughts and feelings and to see the similarities to my mom's case was enlightening. The book will make the next steps easier as I know much more what to expect from the disease and what I can do and to asuage my guilt feelings. Thanks for writing this.

Losing a father, finding a self
I have not been so moved by a book since the death of my own father 10 years ago. Sue Miller's memoir of her father's last years with Alzheimer's Disease tells the reader more about her than about her father. Her ability to stay connected to the complexity of feelings she experienced, even when they overwhelmed her and she couldn't articulate them, is astounding. Most moving of all is her father's final gift to her - a much deeper understanding of herself, of him. and of their relationship.

A Must Have!
Sue Miller's excellent work tells the heart wrenching story of an incredibly gifted man who gradually disappeared into the horrible disease that is Alzheimer's. Anyone who has a loved one who is suffering from this disease should read this book. I also recommend Into the Shadows by Dr. Robert F. DeHaan, a psychologist whose wife suffers from Alzheimer's, for those who want to read more. Both books address the loss of a loved one from a spiritual perspective.
